Patrick Joseph Quinane was born on the 3rd of October 1854 at "Jim Crowe Ranges" near Ballarat. He was born at the gold diggings near Ballarat and was 2 months old when troopers burnt his father's tent down after the Eureka uprising. Patrick married Julia Ann Hurley 4 September 1887 at Yarrawonga - only some two months before his father died in November 1887.
Patrick must have moved to Melbourne shortly after the birth of his oldest daughter in 1888 because from 1 July 1889 he was a railway worker. His wife, Julia owned a General Store in Fairfield, Victoria (See picture below). The family remained in Fairfield at least until 1902 when Dorothea was born.

Both Patrick and Julia died and are buried in Sydney, Patrick died on 17 December 1937 and Julia almost two years earlier on 21 February 1935.
They had 9 children:
Teresa Mary Quinane (1888) born at Yarrawonga, didn't marry and died in Ashfield in Sydney on 4th October 1967.
Agnes Annie Quinane (1889) at Carlton - married Herbert Montague Davis in 1908 at Carlton. And later married Fred Alexander. Agnes died in Sydney in 1984.
Kathleen May Quinane (1891) - entered the convent and died 1975.
Julia Helen Quinane (1892) - died in 1897 following an accident when her hair caught fire.
Patrick Joseph Quinane (1894) married Irene Therese Priestly in 1918 and had 5 children - Joan Patricia (1919), Frederick Douglas (1921), Phillip Michael (1922), Yvonne (1925) and Kevin (1927).
Camillus Josephine Quinane (1895) - entered the convent and died in 1972.
Gertrude Mary Quinane (1896) - married John Joseph Byrne in 1926 and they had 4 children - Denis (1928), Brian Francis (1930), Julia Mary (1937) and John (1939). Gertie died on 23rd February 1968.
Ester Stella Quinane (1898) married Ronald Weidner in 1925 at Ashfield and they had 2 children, Edward (1926) and Ronald (1930). Ester died on 18th May 1969.
Dorothea Mabel Quinane (1902) married Roland Hill in 1924 in Sydney and had one child, William born 1925. Dorothea died on 15th June 1998.
