The Quinane Family Flyer

A newsletter for descendants and relatives of the Quinane Family

After a break of some 4 years the Quinane Family Flyer is back again!

Unfortunately the Flyer will now only be produced electronically on the internet, but please feel free to print it out and mail it to those family members who don't have access to the net.

Please let me know by email to quinane@bigpond.net.au, the email address of any family members who would like to be advised when a new edition of the flyer is published.

In the last Flyer (January 1999) we looked at the lives, including the children of Patrick Quinane, Daniel Quinane and Michael Quinane who immigrated to Australia from County Tipperary Ireland.

In this edition we will look in more detail at the children and grandchildren of Patrick Quinane

Peter Quinane -

I reported in the Family Flyer of October 1998, that we had found various bits of information on one or more "Peter Quinanes" around Victoria from the 1860's to 1890's - we'll explore Peter in greater depth in this edition.

We have a Peter Quinane aged 21 who arrived in Australia in September 1863 on board "The Champion of the Seas". It is believed that this Peter is the Brother of Daniel and Michael Quinane.

On 28 August 1880, Peter married Mary Ryan at St Francis Church in Melbourne. Their marriage certificate tells us that Peter was 35, lived in Colac, was a Labourer and that his parents were Michael Quinane and Mary Ryan. Mary was 27, lived in Colac, was a servant and her parents were Matthew Ryan and Anne Carolan. Both Peter and Mary would sign their names.
